Membrane Bio Reactor

MBR process diagram

The most advanced technology being implemented for Sewage Water Treatment is the Membrane Bio Reactor.

It combines the aerobic Treatment and Ultra filtration, wherein a specially designed submersible Membrane are placed inside the aeration tank.

The membrane are thin sheet membranes called the cassettes. A row of these cassette are installed and a pump is connected to draw the water from the membrane.

The Partially treated water in the tank enters the membrane due to the suction pressure created by the permeate pump. The membrane prevents any TSS to pass through and thus giving a clear water outlet.

The membranes are back washed and cleaned frequently.

Advantages:

The quality of water meets the standards of a MBBR with UF attached to it and it does not require any generic filtration like PSF and ACF.
